When you open an app, its window only stretches from the top of the display to the top of the Dock, so you’re missing out on some valuable space. In a recent article on the Mac Security Blog, about getting to know your Mac’s Dock, I explained how you can either position the Dock to the left of the display—getting more vertical space at. If this is a look you like, you can follow the steps below to make sure some applications always open in full-screen mode on your Mac. Related: How to Change All Your Mac’s Default Apps. Enabling Resume. Macs actually have a featured called “Resume” that allows apps to save their state on close. In 10.7 without resume enabled full screen apps states where memorised even after a OS restart you could open that app and it would return to the full screen mode you last closed it in. I also agree with you that there should be a option to open apps as default in fullscreen. I also find Tuttle completed un helpful in this thread.

Objective

A user might want to have a specific published application always start on maximized mode. For example, Microsoft Internet Explorer.
This can be accomplished easily on the application properties, but only if seamless mode is disabled, as shown in the following screen shot:
To force applications to start maximized without the need to disable seamless mode, you must publish a Visual Basic script that calls the application with maximized mode on as a startup switch.

Instructions

To force a published application to start in maximized mode, complete the following procedure:

  1. Create the following Visual Basic script by using Notepad:
    Set WshShell = WScript.CreateObject('WScript.Shell')
    WshShell.Run 'iexplore.exe', 3, false

1- Create a new desktop (slide three fingers up, click on the + on top right corner to create a new blank desktop) 2- Un-maximize (Microsoft language: restore) the window or app in question. 3- Drag the window all the way up until all the desktops show at the top. 4- Place the window/app in the desktop you just created. To fix it, all you need to do is right-click on the application shortcut and select Properties. Under the Shortcut tab change the Run dropdown to Maximized. The Mac opens data files (pics, sounds, docs) in applications automatically, but you can change which apps they use in a few simple steps.

How To Make Apps Always Open Maximized Macros

  1. Replace iexplore.exe with the full path for the desired application on the XenApp server, including the executable.

How To Make Apps Always Open Maximized Macbook Pro

  1. Save this Visual Basic script with the correct file extension (.vbs) on a network share that is accessible from all XenApp servers where this application is or will be published.

  1. Publish the Visual Basic script as an “Application > Accessed from a server > installed application” with the following settings:
Command line: %windir%system32wscript.exe networksharescript.vbs (replace this address according to your environment and to your script filename.)
    Working directory: %windir%system32

In a nutshell - how to make firefox always open new window (or restore recently closed one) in maximized state (i.e. using all desktop, but not fullscreen)? The dimensions seems random at best, usually using half width and about 85% height positioning it in.. random places on the desktop. What's more, restored windows don't remember the size they had just seconds ago!Under windows you could modify shortcut properties and set 'always start maximized' but this only applied to cold-start and single window and.. MS Windows.

Is there an option to make firefox always maximize window? Or should I file a bug? Photo apps with date mac.
